Dr. Thomas Whisenhunt
Thomas R. Whisenhunt, Jr., M.D., PhD, is a dedicated, board-certified neurosurgeon with specialized expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spinal procedures, and various areas of neurosurgery.

Dr. Whisenhunt earned his bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology from San Diego State University. He then pursued the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he earned both a PhD in cell biology and his medical degree in 2007.

He completed his neurosurgery residency at UAB, serving as the chief resident from July 2012 to June 2013. During this time, Dr. Whisenhunt received the UAB Resident Leadership Award, recognizing his clinical excellence and leadership. His research has also earned national recognition.

Originally from Alexander City, Alabama, Dr. Whisenhunt lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving to California for college. He and his wife, Emily, relocated to Montgomery from Birmingham, where they are raising their five children: Benjamin, Alexander, David, Nicholas, and Evelyn.
